PURPOSE: To provide the alloy which has a sufficient mechanical strength, weldability, and resistance to stress corrosion cracking and which is superior in resistance to crevice corrosion at the time of intruding chloride and also to provide a reactor pressure vessel using the alloy. CONSTITUTION: This nickel base alloy for cladding by welding a joint surface between the upper cover and the main body of a reactor pressure vessel contains =0.10% C, =0.50% Si, 2.5-3.5% Mn, =0.01% S, 18-22% Cr, 1.0-4.0% Mo, 1.5-25% Nb, 0.1-0.75% Ti, =3.0% Fe, 0.001-0.005% N, and the balance Ni essentially.
