PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of easily and positively construct a soil column having a plurality of flange-like enlarged-diameter portions at a plurality of locations of a small-diameter columnar body, and having predetermined strength.;SOLUTION: There is provided a soil column constructing apparatus which is formed of a shaft 4 having an excavating blade at a lower end thereof, and functions to form a small-diameter excavated hole having a predetermined depth by forward rotation of the shaft 4 and to form the soil column under the ground by mixing excavated soil generated in the excavated hole with cement milk. The shaft 4 is provided with a holding shaft 5 along an axial direction thereof, and the holding shaft 5 is provided with a plurality of shanks 19 at predetermined intervals. The shanks 19 are closed in a plane perpendicular to the shaft 4 during forward rotation of the shaft 4, while they are simultaneously radially opened in the plane during backward rotation of the shaft 4, whereby an internal diameter of the small-diameter excavated hole is partially enlarged.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
