PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust properly the luminance by a backlight in response to existence or non-existence of a luminance adjusting section.;SOLUTION: Existence or non-existence of the luminance adjusting section 2 for adjusting the luminance by the backlight 12 is determined. When the luminance adjusting section 2 does not exist, a signal with a prescribed light- reducing value is output in response to an input signal from a nighttime light- reducing command section 3. When the luminance adjusting section 2 exists, a signal with a light-reducing ratio corresponding to a luminance set at the luminance adjusting section 2 is output in response to an input signal from the nighttime light-reducing command section 3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
