PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charge managing method for a dial-up router capable of impartially charging a plurality of terminal users accessing the Internet by using one line to be charged for line use charges in accordance with communication data quantity.;SOLUTION: This dial-up router consists of a HUB part housing a plurality of terminals, a line interface part connected to a line to be charged, a path controlling part transmitting and receiving a packet for communication between the HUB part and the line to be charged, a data transfer quantity measuring part which monitors a packet passing through the path controlling part and measures data transfer quantity, a data transfer quantity storing part storing the measured data transfer quantity, and a charge managing part which receives a charge information request instruction, etc., from the path controlling part and manages a line use charge by using charge information notification received from the data transfer quantity storing part and the line interface part.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
