The damping structure in high-rise structure with shock damper

PURPOSE: To damp the vibration of a high-rise structure utilizing impacting energy by providing two additional weights on or in the structure and fixing a stopper midway in the moving region of the weights. ;CONSTITUTION: A dynamic damper D of two degree-of-freedom comprising two additional weights having mass m1, m2 is provided on or in a high-rise structure having mass M. And a stopper 5 which is adjusted to a predetermined rigidity lower than that of a structure 1 is fixed to the structure 1 at the point midway in the moving region of the weights 2, 3. When amplitude of the structure is small, the weights 2, 3, as a pair of weights, impart reaction forces in a direction such that vibration acting on the structure 1 is eliminated so that normal function of a dynamic damper will be produced. When amplitude becomes larger, the weights 2, 3 move independently and run against the stopper 5 successively at small time differences so that a large amount of impacting energy is produced and hence the vibration of the structure 1 is absorbed and a vibration generator is driven precisely.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
