PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate a servo pattern in a short lead time at low costs without providing development facilities.;SOLUTION: A specified servo pattern which has a fixed length or longer in the length direction and is arrayed at an interval corresponding to the length so that desired resolution is obtained for an isolated reproduced waveform obtained by reproducing the specified servo pattern is used as a servo signal generating function to generate an isolated reproduced waveform corresponding to an edge of the specified servo pattern; and a servo signal distribution of a medium to which a desired servo pattern is transferred is calculated and respective isolated reproduced waveforms are put over the servo signal distribution of the desired servo pattern to generate a linear servo signal array. A servo signal for a track of a magnetic head of a hard disk drive employing the desired servo pattern is calculated through interpolation processing of the one-dimensional servo signal array and a signal of a head position is used again for generation processing of a servo signal to perform loop operation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
