Online character recognition method and apparatus

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-line handwritten character recognizing device for an individual in which an unrecognizable pattern can be instantaneously recognized by registering it, and increase of the scale of a dictionary can be reduced. ;SOLUTION: The stroke order in a standard pattern to a character with an erroneous stroke order and an erroneous stroke order continuing character obtained from a corresponding stroke extracting part 7 is registered in a stroke order information memory part 8 for the character with an erroneous stoke order and the erroneous stroke order continuing character. When the character with an erroneous stroke order or the erroneous stroke order continuing character in the same stroke order is inputted again, the one stroke standard pattern rearranged like the stroke order of the input pattern is generated from the preliminarily registered stroke order so that the input pattern can be recognized by a one stroke DP matching method. Also, the input pattern which can not recognized due to the deformation of a character shape peculiar to an individual is registered in an individual pattern memory part 10, and when the input pattern in the similar shape is inputted, the pattern can be recognized by using the preliminarily registered input pattern.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
