PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preservation container of living bait for fishing, capable of preserving the living bait for fishing for a long period, enabling a stable supply of the living bait for fishing, and further to provide a method of preserving the living bait for fishing. SOLUTION: This preservation container of a living bait for fishing comprises pseudo-mud obtained by mixing and integrating the mass of vegetable fibers, with beach mud at the habitat of the living bait, and containing artificial seawater with adjusted salt degree, and allowing the container to have a lot of dispersed lumps solidified to the extent capable of being deformed but not allowing the living bait to penetrate into inside. The method of preserving the living bait for fishing comprises preparing the container obtained by mixing and integrating the mass of vegetable fibers, with beach mud at the habitat of the living bait, and containing artificial seawater with adjusted salt degree, and dispersing the small lumps solidified to the extent capable of being deformed but not allowing the living bait to penetrate into inside, and maintaining the contact state of the living bait for fishing with the small lumps to preserve and/or transport the living bait.
