Triphenylborane derivatives and industrial antiseptic and antifungal agents

PURPOSE: To obtain a complex compound of a triphenylborane derivative having strong antiseptic mildew-proofing effect over a long period and useful as an antiseptic mildew-proofing agent for industrial materials and products such as synthetic resin for the structural material of household appliances. ;CONSTITUTION: This triphenylborane derivative is a triphenylborane- pyridinecarboxylic acid derivative expressed by formula I (R¹ is an alkyl, an alkoxy or a halogen; X is OH, amino or an alkoxy), e.g. tris(4-methylphenyl) borane-nicotinamide. The objective compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a triphenylborane derivative of formula II with a pyridinecarboxylic acid derivative of formula III in an organic solvent such as methanol in the presence of an inert gas such as nitrogen free from residual air at 0-60°C for 30min to 2 days. The compound selectively and completely inhibits the generation of various microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts and molds, causes little problem such as toxicity to man and beasts and is free from adverse effect on the industrial raw materials and products.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
