PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for discharging sand from a reservoir in which the sediment is temporarily stored when the discharge in a river increases and definitely discharge sediment downstream of a dam by flowing gradually to a bypass water channel tunnel without clogging when the discharge in the river decreases. ;SOLUTION: A weir 4 is provided upstream of a reservior made by intercepting a river 1 with a dam, the upstream of the weir 4 and the downstream of the dam are communicated with a bypass water channel tunnel 5, and this sediment discharge method discharges the sediment load from the upstream area by temporarily storing sediment in the weir and in its upstream area and then gradually flowing the sediment to the bypassing water channel tunnel 5 and discharges it to the downstream area of the dam.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
