PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hybrid form excellent in heat resistance, adhesivity, chemical resistance and hardness, useful as e.g. a surface protective agent, from a specific alcohol-soluble aromatic polyamide resin and a hydrolyzable silane. ;SOLUTION: For a mixture at least composed of (A) an alcohol-soluble aromatic polyamide having recurring unit of the formula (R¹ and R² are each a 1-3C alkyl) and (B) a hydrolyzable alkoxysilane (pref. tetraethoxysilane) or partial condensate thereof, the component B is subjected to decomposition/ condensation reaction, according as necessary, in the presence of (C) a catalyst (pref. an organic strong acid such as p-toluenesulfonic acid) in (D) an alcohol- predominant solvent (pref. methanol), followed by evaporation to dryness, thus obtaining the objective hybrid form.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
