PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improvement work method for an intersection and its adjacent part to form a considerable part of a median strip into a right turn stand-by lane by separating and moving a bridge pier of a viaduct existing on the median strip, to both outer sides of a lane to reduce or dissolve traffic congestion caused by right turning vehicles at an intersection of a lower road of the viaduct.;SOLUTION: This improvement work method for the intersection and its adjacent part having the bridge pier of the viaduct on the median strip comprises a first process for newly constructing two columns of the bridge pier on both outer sides of a roadway in a place where the bridge pier to be moved (the bridge pier of the viaduct existing on the road median strip) is bui a second process for newly providing a beam for supporting an upper road part supported by the bridge pier to be moved, on two newly-constructed columns of the bridge pier; a third process for transferring the load of the upper road part to two newly constructed columns of the bridge pier through the beam; a fourth process for removing an existing beam and the bridge pier on the median strip; and a fifth process for narrowing the median strip provided in a width equivalent to the width of the bridge pier caused by the presence of the bridge pier, to provide a stand-by space for the right turn of a right turning vehicle.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
