PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a large amount of transplantable seedlings of reed in a short period. PSOLUTION: This system 1 for growing the seedlings of the reed is substantially constituted of a nursery bed 2, a water supply 3 for supplying water to the nursery bed 2, and a water-storing pond 4 for germination and rooting. The nursery bed 2 is constituted by laying a material 16 for a nursery bed on the bottom part, and flooding the nursery bed 2. A palm mat 41 which is a biodegradable nursery mat is put on the upper surface of a nursery bed material 16 so that stems 15 of the reed may horizontally be arranged on the palm mat 41. The water supply 3 is constituted of an open-type water-storing vessel 6 for storing the water introduced from a river (not shown in the figure) as a water source, and a water-supplying pipe 5 communicating the interior of the open type water-storing vessel 6 with the interior of the nursery bed 2. The water supplied from the water supply 3 is allowed to flow in the nursery bed 2 and the water-storing pond for the germination and the rooting. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
