PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a pattern for adjusting a recording position by which deviation of the recording position can be accurately corrected even under a condition containing inclination of a recording head, a method for adjusting an image recording position, an apparatus for forming the pattern for adjusting the recording position and an image recording apparatus. SOLUTION: A plurality of blocks in which a specified number of parallel bars is made to be one block are printed by printing a plurality of approximately trapezoid- shaped patterns by using a tilt-corrected K-color (150 and 160) and colored parallel bars in which a plurality of rectangular patterns are printed between the K-colored parallel bars are printed so as to be deviated by a different amount of deviation on every block (152 and 162). In addition, by detecting densities of the parallel bars by an optical detecting means, a block with the highest density is detected (154 and 164) and by setting amount of tilt of the detected block as amount of registration deviation of the color, registration deviation of the color is corrected (156 and 166). In addition, on each color, the correction on registration deviation is similarly performed.
