PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte feeding method applied to battery jar formation of a control valve type lead-acid battery, and an electrolyte feeding device used for it both of which are used for smoothly and entirely housing a predetermined quantity of electrolyte in a cell without spilling the electrolyte during formation. SOLUTION: In this electrolyte feeding method for battery jar formation of a control valve type lead-acid battery, a specified amount of electrolyte is fed to each chamber of an electrolyte storage tank connected to the upper part of the cell of the battery, the battery jar formation is carried out with the electrolyte storage tank kept connected to the cell after the electrolyte is fed to the cell, the space in the cell is tentatively brought into a low-pressure state after the formation and then brought back into a normal pressure state. This electrolyte feeding device for battery jar formation is provided with the electrolyte storage tank equipped with an exhaust valve, a pipe for connecting the electrolyte storage tank to the cell, and a suction device for reducing the pressure of the space in the cell.
