PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reuse an LED or a unit with the LED according to the remaining life by acquiring the remaining life by removing them from an electronic equipment with the LED. SOLUTION: The remaining life of LED2 to LED7 provided to a printer 100 and an encoder unit 22 whereon an LED1 is mounted is determined. The energization time of the encoder unit 22 and the LED2 to LED7 is subjected to accumulation record in an EEPROM 122 provided to a printer 100. When the encoder unit 22 and the LED2 to LED7 are removed, the accumulated value is acquired from the EEPROM 122, and the remaining life of the encoder unit 22 and the LED2 to LED7 is determined based on it.
