TWO-STAGE FILTER USING MULTIPLE MOTION MODELS FOR USE IN GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-stage filter using multiple motion models, for use in a global positioning system, which requires no update of equations and less calculation load for determining a dynamical quantity. ;SOLUTION: A method for determining a dynamical quantity of a receiver comprises the steps of: obtaining a single-point solution of the dynamical quantity using a single-point solution having as an input the information useful in estimating the dynamical quantity; using the single-point solution as an input of a plurality of filter solution means (IMM) each assuming a different motion model for the receiver; and combining output solutions of the plurality of filter solution means using weights in accordance with the suitability of each motion model.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
