PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of separating and recovering the positive electrode material of an alkaline secondary battery which has high reusability. SOLUTION: This method of separating and recovering the alkaline secondary battery positive electrode material, having a collector and an active material layer containing an active material and a conductive material containing metallic cobalt and oxygen-containing cobalt compound and formed on the collector, comprises a process of dissolving the active material in a weak acid solution, and a process of separating and recovering the weak acid solution and insoluble components of the alkaline secondary battery positive electrode material, by utilizing the difference in solubility with respect to acid, of the components of the alkaline secondary battery positive electrode, the components are separated. That is, the fact is exploited of that the active material as one of the components of the alkaline secondary battery positive material is dissolved in the weak acid solution, while the conductive material and the collector do not dissolve in weak acid solution.
