PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for inspecting increased leaves or dropped leaves which can be applied to such a situation as one where the prior art method and apparatus for inspecting increased leaves or dropped leaves cannot be applied and further which can inspect increased leaves or dropped leaves of a thin enclosed item in a positive manner.;SOLUTION: There is provided a method for inspecting either content obtained by gathering the enclosed items or the enclosed items in an envelope having the content enclosed in it. An elastic contact plate is displaced being in contact with the content or the upper surface of the envelope, and a vibration of the contact plate occurred through the contacted state of the contact plate is attenuated by a vibration restricting means. Inspection of the displacement under the attenuated state is carried out by a displacement sensor. There is also provided an apparatus for inspecting the increased leaves or dropped leaves by applying the aforesaid method.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
