PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To steadily confine, for a long time, actinoid included in various radioactive waste in a disposal field by using a compound including phosphoric acid such as apatite.;SOLUTION: Actinoids such as uranium, plutonium and neptunium are included in various radioactive waste, for example RI waste, institute waste, TRU waste, and high level radioactive waste generated out of nuclear-related facilities such as nuclear power stations and institutes. Actinoids are all radioactive and their half lives are generally very long and they are poisonous. Confining actinoids stably in the radioactive waste stratum disposal field is important issue for realizing the stratum disposal of radioactive waste. Thus, by adding compounds including phosphoric acid in a layer of bentonite or sand laid surrounding the waste in the radioactive waste disposal field, actinoids eluding from radioactive waste are stably closed in the radioactive waste disposal field for a long time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
