METHOD FOR PREDICTING NATURAL GROUND PROPERTIES AHEAD OF CUTTING FACE, AND METHOD FOR EXCAVATING NATURAL GROUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for correctly predicting natural ground properties ahead of a cutting face by using excavation data of a TBM.;SOLUTION: According to the method, during excavation of the natural ground by the TBM 1, at least one of the factors consisting of cutter torque, thrust force, cutter rotational speed, and cutter intrusion quantity which are required for excavating the natural ground, is collected as the excavation data, and a value indicating the natural ground properties in the cutting face is estimated, followed by comparing the estimated value with a threshold value set beforehand. During the excavation by the TBM 1 over a predetermined distance, if the estimated value indicating the natural ground properties in the cutting face under excavation continuously falls below the threshold value, it is predicted that a fragile layer can be present in front of the cutting face.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
