SOLUTION: The lithium - manganese compound oxide for a secondary battery is expressed by the general formula of Li1+x Mn2 O4+(0; x0.20, 0; ; 0.3), and has a spinel structure with a spacial group of Fd3m in which the half value width of the (311) face in X-ray diffraction is =0.15 deg., and the half width of the (400) face is =0.15 deg..
