PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern design support device capable of displaying at least two windows, reading area information of data displayed in one window into the other window, and displaying the corresponding areas in both windows.;SOLUTION: In a window system capable of displaying at least two windows (W1 and W2) having a hierarchical structure on a display screen, the area information RI (W1) of the pattern data DT1 displayed in one window W1 is stored in an information storage area PP on the root window RW, and the area information RI (W1) of the pattern data DT1 displayed in one window W1 is read into the other window W2 from the information storage area PP.
