PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quantitatively evaluating the aquatic environment which can be applied in Japan.;SOLUTION: The method comprises calculating the area in which fish of indicators for the environmental evaluation in a water area such as rivers and streams which are targets of environmental evaluation inhabit, by at least one of region-regulating elements selected from a current speed at a normal volume of water, a water depth, a riverbed material and a cover, and quantitatively evaluating the aquatic environment by the degree of the inhabiting area in the water area. At least one of understanding of the fish of the indicators as swimming fish or bottom fish, a water temperature, a current speed at flooding is additionally used as the region-regulating element to improve the quantitative accuracy. The PHABSIM constituted of a plurality of steps such as a setting and investigating step S100 and an appropriate standard-making step S200 can be used as the means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
