PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavating method and an excavating device characterized by incorporating a means for continuously crushing excavated gravel content into small pieces as primary and secondary crushing means or as a primary crushing means according to soil quality.;SOLUTION: In this excavating method in a thick mud type or mud pressure type construction method, a primary crushing is performed for gravel excavated on a tip excavation side by the first half part of the excavating device 40, and a secondary crushing is performed by the latter half part of the excavating device 40.
