PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems in a conventional slurry type shield machine that it is difficult for a worker to perform a maintenance work such as replacement of a sensor in an air chamber under compression, and the mud content of slurry prevents the stable use of a level sensor for a long period.;SOLUTION: Slurry is introduced to an air chamber 7 provided on the shield body side of a cutter chamber 4 to form a slurry layer 21, and an air layer 20 is formed on the upper part of the slurry layer 21. A sensor mounting body 24 communicating with the air layer 20 and the slurry layer 21 from the shield body inside is provided on the shield body side of the air chamber 7. The air chamber side communicating with the slurry layer 21 of the sensor mounting body 24 is formed with a downward inclination, and a sensor body 33 for detecting the level in the sensor mounting body 24 is provided on the sensor mounting body 24, so that a stable level detection can be performed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
