ORDINARY TEMPERATURE-DRYING, WATER-BASED COATING SERVING AS BOTH UNDERCOATING AND TOPCOATING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ordinary temperature-drying, water-based coating serving as both undercoating and topcoating which can form a coating film excellent in finished appearances and anticorrosion properties particularly on the metal surface in one or two application steps.;SOLUTION: The ordinary temperature-drying, water-based coating serving as both undercoating and topcoating comprises a water-based alkyd resin as a base resin component, contains 5-30%, in terms of pigment volume concentration, of titanium white and at most 2% of an organic solvent having a boiling point not higher than 250°C, has a coating pH of 3.0-9.0, and gives a coating film having a 60° gloss of at least 60 both after one day drying and after 14 day drying in an atmosphere of 20°C and 60% RH.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
