PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a deterioration in image qualities when composite signals are converted into component signals.;SOLUTION: The absolute values of the differences between an elementary pixel P51 and its top-side adjacent pixel P52, between the pixel P51 and its bottom-side adjacent pixel P53, between the pixel P51 and its left-side adjacent pixel P54, and between the pixel P51 and its right-side adjacent pixel P57, are found, and a pattern of 6 bits in total is found by setting the absolute values to '1' when the values are larger than a threshold or '0' when the values are smaller than the threshold.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
