PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple insect-controlling device useful for preventing the damage by a rootworm causing harm to a farm crop such as a vegetable and a fruit in a seedling state under growth, and further to provide a method for producing the device and a method for using the device. SOLUTION: The simple insect-controlling device comprises the following components A and B, and obtained by solidifying and forming a paraffin or a wax having 40-90 deg.C melting point into a prescribed shape by heating then: component A: single or several kinds of essences of refine oils of plants called as herbs; and component B: a material obtained by dissolving a seminal fluid of a rice, a zeolite, a rice bran powder, a sawdust powder, humic acid or a fossil powder of excrement of a bat, with sugar water, and solidifying the obtained solution, and preferably having not only a shape of a dumpling but also a shape of granules, a ring, or the like. When a powder of Machilus thunbergii is used instead of the paraffin or the wax, the heat treatment becomes unnecessary.
