PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of testing aggregate, by which highly practical quality control can be made on aggregate by finding the density in saturated surface-dried condition, density in oven-dried condition, water content, percentage of surface moisture, and percentage of absorption of actually used wet aggregate, in conformity with the state of the aggregate, and at the same time, a correct design of mix can be made by estimating the slump loss from the variation of the water absorbing speed of the aggregate by taking the water absorbing phenomena during transportation into consideration, and to provide devices used for the method. ;SOLUTION: The wet aggregate is heated and dried, and the weight D of the dried aggregate is measured. After measurement, the aggregate is cooled to an ordinary temperature region and housed in a quantifying vessel, having a fixed internal volume V and tare P and is quantified, by adding water maintained at the same temperature to the aggregate. Then total weight T of the quantified aggregate is measured and left standing as it is for the predetermined sufficient water-absorbing time of the aggregate. After the time has elapsed, the bubbles generated by the absorbed water are removed and the aggregate is quantified, by adding water maintained at about the same temperature as that of the water in the vessel. After quantification, the total weight T1 of the quantified aggregate is measured. From these measured values, apparent volume S, water absorption q, density in surface-dried condition ρw, percentage of absorption Q, and density in oven-dried condition ρ0 are found.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
