APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING SONG OF WILD BIRD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately identify the classification of a wild bird from its song.;SOLUTION: Similarly to a sound model for a man, a sound model for a wild bird which represents acoustic features of the song of the wild bird is generated. For a rufous turtledove whose song features are similar to those of an owl, a sound model is generated on the basis of a pattern which is a pattern consisting of a plurality of features and repeatedly appear in the song and for the owl, a sound model is generated on the basis of its single acoustic feature. The song of the rufous turtledove has higher similarity to the sound model for the rufous turtledove than to the sound model for the owl and the song of the owl has higher similarity to the sound model for the owl than to the sound model for the rufous turtledove and can be identified. For a bulbul which is different in the continuation of features of its song depending upon a way of singing, a plurality of sound models are generated according to the continuation. When a wild bird sings long, the similarity to a sound model in the case of short singing is low, but the similarity to a sound model in the case of long singing becomes high and the song can be identified.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
