PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tris-1,2,4-(alkoxycarbonylamino)butane, which is useful as a raw material and a crosslinking agent of a polyurethane, has a low molecular weight and high content of functional groups, and is a new three functional urethane compound, at a low cost. ;SOLUTION: 1,2,4-Butanetricarboxylic acid trihydrazide and sodium nitrite are made to react in the presence of a mineral acid such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid to synthesize a triazide. Subsequently, the triazide is subjected to a rearrangement reaction in the presence of a primary or secondary lower alcohol having a carbon number of 1-4. This enables an easy production of the tris-1,2,4-(alkoxycarbonylamino)butane without using 1,2,4-triaminobutane, which is difficult in obtaining and handling on an industrial scale, and phosgene and isocyanate which are highly toxic.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
