PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the service life of a driving belt without increasing the cost thereof.;SOLUTION: The driving belt 1, which is for a transmission for realizing a continuously variable transmission ratio, has a structure where continuous bands 22 are engaged with a line of platelike transverse elements 30, the transverse elements 30 freely slide in a longitudinal direction L of the continuous bands 22, the transverse elements 30 have a tapered portion 31 for creating mutual turning movements of two transverse elements 30 in mutual contact about a transverse slant edge 32 of the transverse elements 30 to thereby define a minimal radius of curvature RMIN, at which the driving belt 1 and the continuous bands 22 are bent in the longitudinal direction L, and the continuous bands 22 is provided with internal residual stress distribution in a form longitudinally bent at a so-called pre-bending radius RPB. The pre-bending radius RPB of the continuous bands 22 is not less than 2.5 times the minimal radius of curvature RMIN.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
