PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a 2-17 Sm-Co type rare earth permanent magnet having a high density structure with fine crystal particle sizes, which is optimal for powder metallurgy, by preventing the particles from growing coarse and by aggregating densely, in a sintering step of the manufacturing process for a sintered compact of the 2-17 Sm-Co type rare earth permanent magnet.;SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the 2-17 Sm-Co type rare earth permanent magnet is characterized by controlling the grain growth by carrying out plasma heating pressure sintering at a low temperature of 700-1,100C, in a step of sintering powders with powder sizes of 0.1-50.0 m for the 2-17 Sm-Co type rare earth permanent magnet, to obtain a sintered compact having high density and fine particles sizes of 0.1-300 m in the sintered compact.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
