PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image read method capable of more accurately reading the front print characters of an image read object medium. SOLUTION: A first light source 11 irradiating the front print character 31 of the image read object medium 30 and making a sensor 13 detect reflected light and a light source 12 irradiating the back print character 32 of the image read object medium 30 and making the sensor 13 detect the reflected light are switched, the output of the sensor 13 is converted into digital data and image data are generated from the digital data by the first light source 11 and the digital data by the second light source 12.
