PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable non-destructive testing of steel wires in an already installed pre-stressed concrete pole.;SOLUTION: A method of estimating the deterioration of a pre-stressed concrete pole, having stressed reinforcing steel wires in its longitudinal direction, is such that an electrode is connected to an end position of the stressed reinforcing steel wire, a counter electrode is brought into contact with the side surface of the tested position of the concrete pole, and the impedance characteristics between the electrode and the counter electrode are measured to estimate a water content in the concrete, and a hydrogen concentration in the steel wire, which is to be a criterion for the brittleness breakdown of the stressed reinforcing steel wire, is estimated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
