PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning dioxins efficiently by natural plants and a means for detecting the plants simply. SOLUTION: In a method for cleaning organic chlorine compounds, plants which are not subjected to a gene manipulation for cleaning the organic chlorine compounds by enzymes of the group consisting of oxidase, peroxidase, and laccase, especially plants of the family polygonum family and the family gramineae, are grown in a growth environment where the organic chlorine compounds exist. In a method for detecting the properties and functions of plants for cleaning the organic chlorine compounds, the plants are grown in a growth environment by using a liquid containing Lemazole Brilliant Blue-R and Bromophenol Blue or in a growth environment where guaiacol exists.
