PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tantalum and/or niobium-containing raw material suitable for the efficient production of various products by removing an oil component from oil-containing sludge containing tantalum and/or niobium, which is low in the content of tantalum and/or niobium and contains a large amount of the oil component and is said to be difficult in the recovery of tantalum and/or niobium heretofore, by drying evaporation, the suspension or dissolution into water or an organic solvent, or saponification of the oil component. ;SOLUTION: The method for treating the oil-containing sludge containing tantalum and/or niobium includes a process for taking out an oil-containing solid from the oil-containing sludge containing tantalum and/or niobium, a process for drying the taken-out oil-containing solid to obtain the dried solid, a process for slurrying the dried solid with water or the organic solvent to heat and stirr the formed slurry and a process for obtaining the tantalum and/or niobium-containing raw material from which the oil component is removed by subjecting the slurry after heating and stirring to solid-liquid separation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
