PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect abnormal overheat of a specific coil in a printing head without using a thermistor and to improve the through put as a whole. ;SOLUTION: A temperature controlling system for a printing head, comprises a thermistor for detecting abnormal overheat of a plurality of coils for driving each of a plurality of pins in a printing head, and a controlling means for controlling the temperature in the printing head in the case abnormal overheat is detected by the thermistor, wherein a grouping means for dividing the plurality of the pins into a plurality of groups, a counting means for counting the number of printing dots of each group unit of the plurality of the groups and calculating the printing dot ratio of the number of printing dots of each group with respect to the total number of dots, and a judging means for judging the group of the abnormally overheated coil by detecting the group with an abnormally high printing dot ratio, are provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
