PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance ultra-thin isolation membrane having a carbon monolayer structure as the skeleton, a small quantity of oxygen bonded thereto, an obvious structure and obvious physical properties. ;SOLUTION: In order to solve the above subject, the following method was developed: (1) Graphite as a raw material is subjected to an oxidation treatment in a solution. (2) The graphite oxide obtained is subjected to a treatment for interlaminar separation. (3) Particles in the fluid dispersion are laid on a mesh together with the fluid and dried to obtain an isolated thin membrane. (4) It is confirmed that the ultra-thin isolation membrane having an unprecedented new structure and composition is formed by observing and analyzing images, electron diffraction diagrams and electron energy loss spectroscopy spectrums of the membrane by use of a transmission electron microscope.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
