PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To numerically analyze behavior of a free surface when electrically conductive fluid is electrically heated in an electromagnetic field. SOLUTION: A GSMAC-CIP method is applied to a level set method in a numerical analysis and an equation for the level set method is transformed into a form of an advection equation. Physical quantity in the electromagnetic field is obtained by an A- method and an arithmetic operation is performed to move the free surface in accordance with a kinematic condition of the surface. A reinitialization arithmetic operation to maintain characteristics of a distance function is performed and a volume preservation arithmetic operation to preserve the volume of the fluid is performed. Thus, an appearance of transformation of an electrically conductive liquid column is evaluated by a three dimensional numerical analysis. A two-phase fluid is treated as if it is a one- phase fluid and the transformation of the free surface due to an electric heating in the electromagnetic field can be analyzed with stability.
