PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To isolate an insertion factor derived from a chromosome of a bacterium of the genus Thermus, capable of carrying out transfer between bacteria of the genus Thermus and capable of being used for functional analysis of genes of bacteria belonging to the genus Thermus useful for production of proteins under the high-temperature environment and functional analysis of genes of bacteria belonging to the other genera and determine a base sequence of the insertion factor.;SOLUTION: An insertion factor IstaqTZ2 derived from Thermus aquaticus TZ2 strain is isolated and the base sequence thereof is determined.
