Dimeric light stabilizers for polyolefines and polyolefine copolymers

Compositions comprising;A) a polyolefin or polyolefin copolymer, and;B) a compound of the formula I ;wherein;R₁ is O or O—X—O;;R₂, R₃, R₄ and R₅ independently are hydrogen, halogen, C₁-C₈alkyl, C₁-C₈alkoxy, SR₁₀,;SO₂R₁₀, phenyl, CF₃, COOR₁₁; and wherein R₂ and R₃ also may be OH;;R₆ and R₇ are H or C₁-C₈alkyl;;R₈ and R₉ are H, C₁-C₈alkyl or allyl;;R₁₀ is phenyl or C₁-C₁₂alkyl;;R₁₁ is C₁-C₈alkyl; C₃-C₅₀alkylene interrupted by one or more O; cyclohexyl; benzyl; allyl;;X is C₂-C₁₈alkylene; C₃-C₁₂hydroxyalkylene; or a group selected from those of the formulae ;where D and D′ independently are a direct bond or C₁-C₃alkylene; and;Y is O, S, SO₂, or C₁-C₃alkylene, e.g. polyethylene films, are well stabilized against the effects of light, oxygen and heat. Some novel compounds of component B are valuable stabilizers for organic material against damage by light, oxygen and/or heat.
