It provides a method for Bleaching a substrate that comprises applying to the substrate, in an aqueous medium, a selected Class of a specific ligand which forms a complex with a transition metal, the complex catalyses Bleaching of the substrate by Atmospheric Oxygen.Also provides a Whitening composition is substantially devoid of Aqueous peroxygen Bleach or system based on generator or peroxy Bleaching.
