The present invention relates to particles having a core comprising a peroxy compound with capability of releasing hydrogen peroxide or peroxy acids in aqueous solutions, wherein the particles contain 10 to 99 percent by weight of a peroxy compound and have a coating containing alkali metal silicate and an aliphatic organic compound or a salt thereof as a chelating agent, wherein said organic compound comprises from 2 to 10 carbon atoms and one or more carboxylic acid groups, wherein the organic compound is not a complex of citric acid, tartaric acid, gluconic acid, saccharic acid, ascorbic acid, or salts of the above acids with boric acid or a borate. Claimed is also a process for preparing these particles by coating corresponding uncoated particles, further the use of these particles as a bleaching agent and a composition containing an inert filling agent and/or one or more substances exhibiting activity during washing and which also contains the above-indicated particles.
