In the present invention there is disclosed a transdermal patch for preventing ovulation in a woman comprising: a) a backing layer; and b) a matrix layer being free of acrylate and underlying the backing layer, whereby the matrix layer comprising a mixture of 17-deacetyl norgestimate and optionally estrogen and a pressure sensitive adhesive containing at least one silicon or polyisobutylene, whereby the matrix is adapted to be in diffusional communication with the skin of the woman and to transdermal administration of an ovulation-inhibiting amount of 17-deacetyl norgestimate.
