METHOD FOR REMOVAL OF SMALL AMOUNTS OF ORGANIC SULFUR COMPOUNDS OF SULFUR FROM HYDROCARBON FUELS

The method of desulfurizing fuels, such as diesel fuel and similar petroleum products, in order to lower the sulfur content to values ranging from about 2 mlndo to 15 mln. Sulfur-containing fuel is brought into contact with an oxidizing and extraction solution containing formic acid at a slightly elevated temperature, a small amount of hydrogen peroxide and not more than about 25% by weight of water. A method for removing oxidation products of substituted dibenztiophenes from fuels is also described. The international application was published together with an international search report.
