The invention refers to biology, namely to the plant physiology and may be used for determining the water content in the vegetal objects at tissue, cellular and subcellular levels.For determining the water content it is collected the sample, it is registered the NMR curve of relaxation of the water protons ant it is determined on the basis thereof the total content of water. Then the sample is infiltrated with paramagnetic material, it is registered the NMR curve of relaxation of the water protons and it is determined on the basis thereof the total content of water, afterwards the NRM curves of relaxation from the collected and infiltrated sample are divided into quick-attenuating and slow-attenuating components, according to the values of which it is determined the water content in the cytoplasm, vacuole and apoplast. The water content in the cytoplasm is determined according to the value of the quick-attenuating component of the NMR curve of relaxation of the water protons from the infiltrated sample. The water content in the apoplast is determined according to the difference between the values of the slow-attenuating component of the NMR curves of relaxation of the water protons from the collected sample and the infiltrated sample.The result of the invention consists in the possibility of determining the water content in the cellular compartments of the vegetal tissues.
