PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber composition which can give a tread improved both in the performance of gripping a frozen or snow-covered road surface and in abrasion resistance.;SOLUTION: The rubber composition for the tread contains 100 pts.mass rubber component containing at least 50 mass% either polyisoprene rubber of polybutadiene rubber and 5-60 pts.mass aluminum hydroxide having a tapped bulk density of at most 0.60 g/cm³, a DOP absorption of 70 to below 250 cm³/100 g, and a BET specific surface area of 30-350 m²/g and has a peak temperature of tanδ of at most -45°C, and a Type A durometer hardness of at most 64 at 0°C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
