A phosphoric ester of formula (I) is useful as leveling agents for dying fibrous materials containing nitrogen such as wool wherein: R1 is an aliphatic radical; R2 is a radical -O-CH2-CH2-[O-CH2-CH2]n-N(X)-[O-CH2-CH2]n-Y; n is 0 to 30; m is 1 to 29; X is an aliphatic radical; Y is H or PO(OM)2; R3 is -[CH2C(H)(R4)-O]p-Z; p is 4 to 35 R4 is H, methyl, ethyl or phenyl or denotes mixtures of H and methyl; Z is H, methyl, ethyl or PO(OM)2; M is H, alkali metal, ammonium, a mono, di, tri or tetra-(alkyl)-ammonium ion or a mono, di, tri or tetra-(alkanol)-ammonium ion and a, b and c are independently 0 to 3 and a+b+c=3 however b cannot be 0.
